Happy New Year!
Winter is here and the game season is in full swing. What better wines than Barolo's and Barbaresco's to accompany the rich game flavours of this time of year. In particular we have a great Barolo Riserva from Schiavenza which at £120 a bottle for a top vintage represents a steal on our wine list. We also have an impressive selection of producers from Piedmont on the list for those wishing to indulge further.
Champagne is the quintessential celebratory drink however, why not try our English Sparkling Wine from Kent as an alternative. The Blanc de Blancs from Gusbourne offers a lovely buttery and biscuity character, and at £70 a bottle provides a good alternative to Champagne.
Port is a classic wine to have with our impressive selection of cheeses but also will provide a good pairing to some of our chocolate desserts. We have a number of vintages by the glass and bottle from Niepoort Colheita 1995 to Dows 1983. One of my favourites is Grahams 1966!
We have a number of drinking vintages of Bordeaux at the moment. Look out for 1996 left bank vintages and some top Sauternes from Chateau Suduiraut directly sourced from the property.
